A long 9 months...

So we announced to the family on Christmas day that we are having another baby. I am due August 18th (as if we need another August birthday :). Rylie and Saige are super excited. I explained to Rylie that the baby is still really tiny...about 1 centimeter. She is so dang cute! She wakes up every morning, runs into my bedroom and asks if the baby is bigger yet....this could make for a long 9 months.

The Festival of Trees

This year I had the opportunity to help with a tree for the festival of trees. Amy was the instigator and organizer of this great tree. It was dedicated to Evan's grandpa Scadlock, who passed away a few years ago. He was an amazing man! He was a firefighter in his younger years which is the reason for the theme. It was so much fun to decorate the tree and especially to surprise Grandma Scadlock with it. I'm glad that the tree sold and the proceeds went to Primary Children's Hospital. Thanks Amy for letting me be a part of it.

Gingerbread Houses

This years gingerbread house was so fun to make. The girls were so much fun and they loved putting each piece of candy in its place. This is a fun family tradition. I just love the holidays.

Our Bella

The other day while talking to Mckenna she asked for some photos of our little Bella. Its a good thing that Bella is as beautiful as she is. She may not have survived this long otherwise. She really is a great dog. One of Evan's cousins described owning a Weimaraner as "Living with an olympic athlete who wants to be under your feet all the time." Its true! She has more energy than I ever thought. She is beginning to calm down a bit and we've found the perfect harness that allows us to walk her, instead of her walking us.

Now, if I can get her to chase a ball (What kind of dog doesn't chase a ball?) we will be set!

65 hours or driving and recovering

Its been a while since my last post...Between our trip to Canada and a trip to Oregon I feel like I have not stopped driving at all in the last couple of weeks. Between the 7th and 17th of November I logged a quick 65 hours of driving. We drove 14 hours on the 7th, 2 1/2 hours on the 8th, 16 hours on the 10th, 12 hours on the 12th, 8 hours on the 13th, and 12 more hours on the 16th. YIKES! I still feel like I'm moving. I will post more when things slow down sometime next week.

oh, to be 4 years old...

Rylie: "Mom, what are those white things on my sandwich?"

Me: "Those are sesame seeds."

Rylie studies the sesame seeds...

Rylie: "Mom, if we plant these seeds will it grow a bun?"

Shiny Diamond Ehat

So, Rylie has decided that she would have much preferred that her name be "Shiny Diamond Ehat."

This morning while in the bath, Rylie looked up at me and said "Mom, I wouldn't be able to talk if I didn't have a mouth." I replied with "No, you're right. You wouldn't be able to talk" She then said "Its a good thing Jesus gave me a mouth"

A day in the sun...or snow

It snowed this morning.

Of course we had to build a snowman.

This was a good 'trial run.' We quickly realized that the girls both need snow boots and Rylie needs snow pants. Don't you just love to spend 20 minutes getting everyone ready to go outside, 10 minutes out there, and at least 30 minutes trying to warm up. But hey, we have a snowman...or snowprincess to show for it.
So, I was tagged by Torri, this tag is to choose the 4th folder and 4th photo and talk about it.

Obviously not a good quality photo. This is a photo of Evan playing soccer. We play on a coed soccer team on Saturday nights. Its pretty much the extent of our dating life. Its fun because we do it together. I always say its a package deal...if the team wants Evan (who is an awesome player) then they also have to deal with me (not such an awesome player.) It all works out

REAL!!!

Last night Evan and I got to go to the stadium opener game of the real salt lake soccer team. The new stadium is awesome. It was so fun! Super cold, but super fun. We got to sit in the same seats we purchased for next season. Only about 10-15 feet from the action. It doesn't get much better than that! Did anyone see us on ESPN?

A few random things

Once in a while we get the urge to make something really good for dinner. One of our favorites is homemade egg rolls. This time, this is all we made for dinner. We all ate and ate and ate. Rylie, who doesn't like vegetables actually ate two whole egg rolls.

During the Saturday session of conference the girls were being especially noisy and distracting until finally, they found something to keep them occupied so I could listen to the speakers. Unfortunately I was the thing that they found.

They just couldn't understand why I would take out my beautiful hair style before we went to the store.

The other day, I came in to find Saige in my makeup...again. This time she got into my brown eye shadow and decided that she would do as mommy does and color her eyebrows. Oh, and don't forget to add a goatee like Daddy.

Funny Girl

Saige is so funny...

This morning was a rough morning for Rylie, she was just having a hard time. At one point she threw herself on the ground, kicking and screaming. I was taking a deep breath before dealing with her and Saige looked at her and said "Rylie, you are acting like a 2 year old."

Keep in mind that Rylie is now 4 years old and Saige is 2.

My little fashionista!

Rylie dressed herself yesterday...who knew that Stripes, plaid and stars would go so great together. She is definitely a trend setter. Now if someone would just fix her hair to go with her outfit.

No running at church

Mom always said "no running at church" apparently there is more to it than just being reverent.

Today at church Rylie learned the hard way that they don't make soft cinderblock.

I was in the hallway between relief society and sunday school today when someone came up and told me that my daughter was in the bathroom freaking out with blood all over her chin. I hurried in there to find Rylie crying hard while a teacher was frantically wiping her mouth, face, and hands with wet paper towels. She explained that Rylie was running down the hall when she fell down and smacked her mouth on the corner of the cinderblock wall. OUCH!
We brought her home and tried to look at it to determine whether or not to take her to the Dr. Evan pulled her lip out (which was adventurous) to see that it was split all the way down the inside of her lip. We decided to call and get the nurses opinion which was that it would heal ok on its own and that they rarely do stitches inside the mouth. She may be losing a tooth a little earlier than usual though. She keeps telling me that her front top tooth hurts too. We'll see.

The perfect day to bake

I started the day off with making zucchini bread. I have two huge zucchinis from my "pumpkin" plant. I made 2 loaves of bread and only used about half of one of the zucchini's. It is pretty yummy with chocolate chips.

Then I moved on to make some wheat bread. I've never made wheat bread before so I thought I would give it a shot. My mouth is just watering at the thought of freshly baked bread with homemade strawberry jam.

I finished the afternoon off with making some fresh salsa. Again, I found myself with more tomatoes than I knew what to do with. I went outside and picked fresh tomatoes, and fresh jalepeno peppers. This salsa is so easy to make and it tastes so good when made with fresh vegetables.

You can just call me "Suzie homemaker"

Rylie is growing up.

Rylie started school this week. Okay, so its just preschool but she is pretty excited about it. We've had lots of fun talking about the fun songs they are learning and the fun things she has been doing at school. Saige keeps asking when she can go too. The pics are of her today and I will post some of her 1st day soon.

Another look at my garden...

So, Do you remember my post about green tomatoes? Well, I was given the advice (thanks Aunt Sherri) to pick a few of my tomatoes and place them in the sunny window sill in my kitchen. As you can see, they are slowly but surely beginning to turn red. I went out today to check out the progress of my other plants and I saw one lone red tomato. I was so excited that I brushed the spider off of it and began to eat it. I didn't think to take a picture until after my first bite.

I also saw something peculiar looking back at me from my pumpkin plant. Let me remind you that we planted our garden late this year so instead of planting seeds I opted to plant starts purchased from the store. I didn't think to be concerned about the accuracy of the tags in each pot.
Does this look like a pumpkin to you?

I am happy to report that my jalepeno peppers are doing great! Yummy! Now I am excited to make salsa.

She cracks me up!

Today while watching the Olympics with Evan Rylie had a profound question..."Daddy, Why are those boys wearing panties?"

Saige's First Time to the Beach

Here are a couple more pics of Rylie's birthday which was also Saige's first time to the beach. What more could a 2 year old want when they have the worlds biggest sand box!
